I am a SAHM in Fairfax who has a 3 month old. I am looking to enroll him in his first classes of some sort in the Fall. Does anyone have any recommendations? I do know about Music Together. Any particular instructor/location? Any other recommendations for his very first classes?
I know a lot of this will be more for me, but I want him to gain the exposure as well. Thanks in advance for your suggestions! |

I would skip Music Together until he's older. It could be overwhelming for an infant or he'll sleep through it. Most kids this young don't go unless they're a younger sibling.
I would join a PACE moms group, and go to local infant story times at your public library. The latter is free but sometimes you need to pre-register b/c they're popular. |
| Save your money. Go to story time. I'm going to music together now with a 14 month old and he seems too young. We are going to take a break from classes and just do library time and save our $ for when he's older. I'm a SAHM also and thought classes would be great but they aren't (yet). |
| I started my DS in music together when he was 14 months and he loved it. But there were some kids around his age that were overwhelmed and didn't seem to be interested. It really is an individual thing. If you want to do it with your infant, go ahead! Infants love music and it gives you a chance to get out of the house. |

+2 Get out of the house and find a moms group if you'd like, but the kid will get absolutely nothing out of it at this stage. Save your time and money for when the kid is older. |
PP with the original quote. I'll admit that I knew my son wouldn't get anything out of it, but I thought it would be a fun way for us to get out of the house and I thought I'd meet some other moms. We've taken 3 classes now (at various locations) and I haven't made any friends and the classes were no better than story time. |
| My 6 month old loves music together! They do get something out of it! I like that I have one hour each week to sing and expose him to other babies and instruments. |
By 6 months it's fine. 3 months is just too young. |
