| It seems like all of these swim programs (NCAP, RMSC, etc) expect 11 & 12 year old swimmers to swim 4-5 days a week. How do kids who also like to participate in other sports do this? Do they have to choose all swimming and nothing else even at this young age? Seems like such a big commitment. Our child loves summer swimming, and is fast, but is torn about the required time because they like other sports (soccer, tennis, basketball, and so on). Anyone have a suggestion for a 2 day a week program? Or will that not be enough? Wondering whether others have tried two days a week, did your child still improve? Our child doesn't want to give up swimming, but we are worried about burnout too. Thanks for any advice. |
| Fins. But it's only on weekends so not sure if that would work with the other sports. ASA also has a multisport group. |

Are you looking for another sport during summer?
Or to continue swimming year round? |
| We just do one day a week off-season with Fins for this exact reason. |
| My child did 2 days, and improved, but fell behind the kids who were practicing 4-5 days a week. She eventually got frustrated by losing her competitiveness and now only swims summer. |
| Winter swim is nothing like summer swim. It is not fun. If he's interested, I'd start him in a stroke development (1 day/week) or 2 day/week program before I committed to 3 or 4. |
| Look at Sea Devils. They have two day a week options for kids who are under 12. |
ASA Multisport is full. It's 3 days a week. |
