| We've been wanting to go to Japan for years and we may not have have time to travel with a baby due early 2017. 2 weeks is the most time we'll be able to take - is that enough to see a god amount without a whirlwind pace? |

Certainly. That is a very long flight, though, and you will probably want to allow for a very easy first day or so. Spend the first day or so in Tokyo and wander around to get a feel for it. That's the day to explore shops, etc.--take a nap and just enjoy the ambiance a little. After that, you can see the sights.
You cannot possibly see everything--I lived there for a year and there is so much I did not see. But, you can enjoy what you do see. |
| We went for 7 days when I was 12 weeks pregnant because that was as long as I could be gone from work. It was quick, but we did a lot on Tokyo and Kyoto. It was a lot so, with twice the time, I would focus on 2-3 cities. I loved it though!! |
| Make a check list of all the things you want to do/see and plan that way. One of my favorite things I did in Japan was go to Kabuki Theatre. So interesting! |

Yes! Most Americans spend too much time in Tokyo and not enough in Kyoto and Nara, the old capitals. Make sure you take the train down to the Kansai region (about 4 hours away) to see those areas.
Read a lot about it from library guides like fodors and frommers |
| absolutely. went for 10 day earlier this year split between tokyo and kyoto. with extra time would have gone to hakone/okinawa/hiroshima. with the high speed train, exploring the country is a breeze. |
