Bedroom decoration ideas?

I just moved into my own apartment and I desperately want a king bed. I told myself the next mattress or bedroom set I have to buy will be king sized. I'm just looking for decoration tips or ideas I'm debating between getting the bedroom set or just buy the individual pieces so I would like to know if this was you what would you purchase and from where?

Also where is a good place to go in the DC area to get a good deal on a mattress

Pinterest is very helpful with thousands of photos. Decide what type of style you like, contemporary, traditional, modern, country etc and just search based on your preference.
I personally like the contemporary-traditional combined look and I bought individual pieces from EVERYWHERE. TJMAXX, Costco, Sams Club, Marshalls, Ross, Wal-Mart, Kohl's, Sears, Target, Macys. Yes I'm that picky! For example I got a upholstered head board set from Target. My Comforter set from Macys etc. upholstered bench from Marshall. I purchased my Queen mattress set online from Sam's Club. I wanted a direct delivery to my apartment. I got a great deal I couldn't pass up!
