Nice couples trip that is not too far from Manhattan?

Anonymous
Can't afford a couples getway this year but would like to still do something nice. Just the two of us, lay around a pool, drink, get massages, eat, make love, etc...Nothing too structured. We thought about Miami but wondered if anyone could recommend any ideas that are not too far from Manhattan. We have to drop our kids in NYC to do it so we'd be leaving from there (flight or car). Would love to save money and drive but not aware of too many places like this on the East Coast. We will fly if need be. Any recommendations

In the past we have done Europe, South America, Africa, and the Caribbean but not we have 2 yr old triplets, so we can't spend like we used to. My MIL is going to watch them. She's the one in NYC. We like warm, lay around a pool and be pampered type atmosphere vs. mountains, active vacations, B&Bs.

What about one of the Connecticut casinos? Lots of restaurants, and certainly spas and drinks. The Fox Tower (formerly the MGM) at Foxwoods has a really nice spa. (We did the same thing when our first kid turned one - he stayed with my folks in NY, and we drove up there).

Finger Lakes. Gorgeous weather, beautiful, some decent wineries and restaurants, gorgeous B&Bs. Ithaca if you need a small town to go explore.

We liked Finger Lakes too, but I think Op said no B&Bs.

I'd go to Bermuda in September. Beautiful and much cheaper in September. Water is still plenty warm to go snorkeling. There are plenty of hotels but there are also hundreds of little rooms and cottages to rent yourself that make it even cheaper (like under $100 a night cheap). Bring a snorkel mask. Rent a moped. Spend a few days on beautiful white sands. Very romantic.

Inn at Perry Cabin in St. Michaels, MD is nice. You can drive there. Beautiful pool. Beautiful spa. Cute, quaint little town with a few nice restaurants that you can walk to or use one of the free bikes.

Second the Mohonk Mountain House in New Paltz NY, especially if you enjoy hiking. Maybe a 2 hour drive from NYC Not sure if there is an outside pool, though.

There's a wonderful lake so one doesn't need a pool.

But Mohonk is not cheap, although we don't know what the OP's budget is. If she looks up Mohonk she should also know that the rates include the meals and the meals are excellent.
