Single Parent vacations

Are there any companies out there that cater to single parent vacations? I love traveling with my daughter, but it would be awesome to find an all inclusive thing.

Thx!

I don't know but I would pick an all inclusive on one of the islands - you get some relaxing time while the kid goes to kids club and meets some other kids.

What is this thing you call "single parent vacations"?

I think some cruises have a "kids club" that operates all day. You can sit by the pool, have lunch etc while your daughter is taken care of.

True - its not quite a vacation, more of an adventure. I'm usually exhausted after it. I'm just usually surrounded by nuclear families. And my daughter makes friends really easily but couples generally don't want to friend a single woman. It can be lonely at times. I end up usually talking mostly with hotel staff.

Disney. Stay onsite, and then just wave your armband at everything. The kid has fun, and you don't have to do a lot of thinking. And I agree, it's kind of depressing to be sitting solo in a regular family place - there isn't a lot of conversation or anyone looking to be friendly - they're all doing their family thing.

I've wondered about this myself-recently single parent of 2. Mine are still little enough that I'm sticking with simple, short things for now, but in a few years will be looking for more. I wonder if there are met up groups for this? I've also thought about drafting single friends to try and do a joint vacation.

I'm not a single parent but have traveled with kids alone. I still talk to other adults. I think they assume I am a single parent. The Disney cruise is really fun. Highly recommend it.

I think people just tend to do their own thing. I usually find a mom at the pool to chit chat with.

i've heard that disney cruises often match up single-adult w/ kids groups w/ other single-adult w/ kids at dining, and a lot of people on forums report enjoying that.

We like to do active vacations, so I'll find biking/hiking/rafting type trips with outfitters. That way, the guides handle the planning, supplies, cooking, etc., and since we do "family trips," sometimes they will include the guides taking the off to do an activity without the parents.

taking the kids off to do an activity without the parents,
that is.

Try http://singleparenttravel.net/

I haven't ever gone on any of their trips though so can't provide feedback.
