Kid-friendly European cities

Anonymous
Taking a long weekend in early November with my husband and DD, who'll be a few months past two. Looking for a European city with neat playgrounds, parks, museums, etc that's kid-friendly in general. Anywhere in Europe. Thank you!

+1 Princess Diana playground at Hyde Park and the new park at Hampton Court is pretty awesome. Both have a big sandy pit, as well, and the one at Hampton Court has water features, but that's probably too cold for November in London.

Natural History and Science museums are good, too, for little ones.

I agree. London has the right mix of kid-friendly green space, exciting tourist attractions, pubs with food they'll eat and no language barrier. The museums are world-class, but mine don't like spending more than an hour in any of them - we have to be on a mission to see a couple of specific things and then hot the exit door.

Add on a daytrip to Windsor castle, walk over to Eton to make them appreciate not wearing formalwear to school! Visit the Cotswolds - so much for kids in England.

Rome, Dublin, Amsterdam, Brussels - great cities, but not that kid-friendly.

disagree, Amsterdam is lovely for children and is easy to get around (bus or bike). The museums are excellent. And if you go during spring, you can go to the keukenhof gardens which is amazing.

Another vote for London. All the reasons listed above, plus the people in England really like children. Everyone was extremely kind and helpful when we went there with our 6 year old. I don't think they take their kids out to eat as often as we do -- we didn't go to fancy restaurants, but people would stop to comment on how well behaved our son was.

My second vote would be Barcelona. Cool parks, and my kid really loved Sagrads Familia and other architecture by Gaudi (and he'd never expressed interest in architecture before.

Lisbon is extremely kid friendly - great food, great open/green spaces, the metro is efficient and easy to navigate, museums etc.
