Flan, dulce de leche cake. Ice cream. |
flan |
watermelon |
The texture of flan is awful. I know this is just my opinion but GROSS.
How about trying a Tres Leche cake? Those are so yummy. I have no idea if they are easy or not though. Otherwise, I'd look for a spicy/sweet latin topping for the ice cream, and just get ice cream. Lots of mexican candies have chili powder in them, so look for something like that. I personally hate it, but my Mexican DH loves that stuff. |

Something like this:
http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/mexican-chocolate-cake-109342 Or just ice cream sundaes. Flan is incredibly difficult to make -- 90% of the time it turns out disgusting because the texture is too curdy, too watery, too solid, something. I never order it, but occasionally I'll try it, and I have had good flan. But it's just extremely rare. It's not like brownies or something, where even if you mess it up a little, they're still usually delicious. |
Costco recently had frozen creme brûlées that were very tasty and could stand in for flan. All you have to do is thaw and then broil the sugar topping. |
Key lime pie |
Watermelon with chili and lime sprinkled on it -- it's delicious |
+1 Or chocolate chili cake. |
+1 Also tastes great sprinkled on ripe mango and guavas. |
Paletas (my current obsession in this heat)
