I swear I've been searching all over the FCPS web site and can't find the school start times listed anywhere. I know they often change from year to year. Can anyone point me in the right direction to find this info?
Also, does anyone know how early you can drop a child off for elementary school? For example, if school starts at 8:40, is 8:25 too early? Trying to figure out whether we need SACC before-care. |

Drop-off time varies from school to school. My children attend two different elementary schools and one allows children to be dropped off 10 min early and the other allows 15.
Check the specific school's website for start time. |
| Google "(school) bell schedule" and you should get a link to the page. How early you can drop off varies - ours is 15 min prior, or 20 if they're buying lunch. |
| Breakfast I mean. Not lunch. |
| Bell schedules are usually listed on individual school websites (sometimes called school hours). Ours is under "administration". Our school starts at 8:35, we usually drop off around 8:20. |

Our school was bumped back to a start time later than 9:00 to make the new high school schedule work.
The two elementary schools in our neighborhood with this schedule do not dismiss until after 4:00 and bus kids get home very late. It sucks that elementaries (and middle schools) have to get a really terrible schedules so that high school students can get 30 minutes extra sleep |

There are two rounds of ES start times so they can use the same bus for two different elementary runs. Your neighborhood school website should have the exact times.
Our school starts at 9:15 and the doors are not unlocked until after 9:00. (Like 9:01 or something). |
| Ours is 9:20 and the kiss and ride doors are unlocked at 9:10. |
| ours is 9:20 and K&R is open at 9:00 |
| Geez, some of these seem so late! Ours apparently starts at 8:15... |
| Holy crap, some of these are late. Ours is 8:20. |
| Ours starts at 8:55. Kiss and ride opens at 8:30 |
| We start at 8:50pm. Kiss and ride opens at 8:20. |
Wow, this is really early. Do the kids go to their classrooms and just wait for 30 Min? |
This is why a lot of people don't like the new high school times. They are good for high school but it messes up elementary and messes up middle school. And as it turns out because of traffic and kids driving to high school, the actual time saved in high school isn't that much for some of the students. Plus it messes up some afterschool activities. |
