freelance nurse to give trigger shot?

Anonymous
I am (hopefully) about to get my first trigger shot. Mixing the meds and administering them stresses me out, so DH and I were planning to hire a nurse to give the trigger shot. I emailed and called Pam from SG (who I was told is the nurse who gives shots at home) and have not heard back. My ET will be Tuesday or Wednesday so I guess that means the trigger will be Sunday or Monday. Anyone know of another service that will do the shots for you? I would be willing to go somewhere to get it done. Thanks!!!

Try googling "visiting nurses" or ask around among your friends if anyone knows a nurse. Honestly its not that bad. If you husband practices on an oranges a couple of times, he can probably do it. I know this is stressful - hang in there and fingers crossed for you!

If you know any nurse they could easily do it for you. If you mixed it, even someone who is diabetic could do it for you-- they would have a steady hand since they give themselves shots on a daily basis. Or call Prosperity Pharmacy (the local fert pharm), they might have a list of available nurses. If none of that works, when you go in for monitoring this weekend, tell whoever is doing it that you haven't heard back from Pam-- I bet they can track her down fast.

I am terrified of needles and my husband isn't much better, but after watching the "training" videos on the manufacturer's website and several youtube videos of "real" people giving shots, we were able to manage. I believe thinking about it ahead of time is far, far worse than the actual shot.

You might try the CVS minute clinic. I am not sure if they do injections but if nothing else pans out it's worth a try. Good luck!

If you're with Columbia Fertility the nurse will come to your house any day any time to administer the trigger for about 50 bucks i think. I used her and it was totally worth it.

Ditto what PP said -- had a CF nurse come do the trigger shot; totally worth $50!

I thought about getting the nurse for my triggers, but ended up having DH do it. The nurse should circle the spot on your butt/hip where the shot should go on your monitoring appt. Just ice that, have DH (or a good friend) mix it. Don't look at the needle. I seriously felt nothing--the belly shots I had been getting hurt worse.
