| Not something I thought we'd need but we do and I have no idea how to go about finding someone good. |
Your church may offer the service. I've also heard of virtual counselors who offer their services online. Otherwise just Google it and include your zip code and see what pops up. |

Ask for referrals from your doctor or from friends.

I started here (ours is on this list and is excellent):
https://www.washingtonian.com/2012/12/14/recommended-couples-therapists-want-to-talk-about-it/ I also looked here and there is a lot of overlap: http://www.iceeft.com/index.php/find-a-therapist |
Honestly, I don't want to ask my friends this. Nor do I really even want to ask my doctor. The clergyman who married us does marital counseling and I'm sure he'd be amazing but I've known him my whole life and don't really want to see him either... |
Thank you, this is perfect! |
| Check with your medical insurance..it lists licensed marriage counselors, social workers, family therapists |
PP here (I posted the links above). The therapists covered by our insurance were terrible. We opted to pay out of pocket to meet the deductible and are reimbursed for a portion of fees now. |
| I'm sorry, OP. You must be going through a stressful time. I will second what PP said about the ones who take insurance being bad -- that's been my experience too. I don't know how excited your spouse is for therapy, but if you're both amenable, it can be a good idea to try out a couple of therapists and pick the one you both feel most comfortable with. A lot of it is chemistry. |
| We used Catholic charities. Our therapist was a lay person. |
