Water filtration - sink or fridge?

Anonymous
If we want filtered water in our new kitchen, are we better off getting something that would work with our sink or a fridge with a water dispenser?

I honestly think you should do both. We only have a filter in the fridge and really want to get a whole house filter or filter installed under the sink. It takes forever to fill up a water bottle from the fridge!

Agree with this. We use a Soda Stream, which I like, but the bottles don't fit in the fridge opening. Filling up anything larger than a glass is a pain and makes a mess.

The under the counter water filtration systems may be $$ up front but will last longer then a fridge one will

There are some under counter systems that can do both the fridge and the sink. The main rig goes under your sink, and there's a T connector with a hose that runs under the cabinet toe kicks to your fridge.

Depends on what you're filtering...for normal city water a whole house cartridge filter works well to eliminate solids and chlorine taste. If you're on well water you probably need something heftier.

Otherwise I would do a sink filter - I hate the look of fridge water dispensers, and it seems like they always go bad.

OP here - I just need filtered water for drinking water - sounds like maybe a sink filter could do the job?
