Hopefully I can explain without writing a novel. I've worked in higher education for a number of years and received my MPA last year. Ideally I want out of higher ed and focus on HR in public sector. This area is saturated with recent graduates (out of ugrad.)
Wise to consider extending the job search outside of DC or flat out stupid given its DC? My family lives in the area and I love having options for my LO but I really want to apply my degree. |
Hm. It's a tough call, op. I've always thought that the reason so many new grads flock here is because there are jobs to be had. In that case, you might be setting yourself up for failure by moving to an area with fewer opportunities. On the other hand, maybe you're right. You should do some research. |

There is no harm in looking to see what opportunities there might be outside of DC.
But, I would love to live nearer my family for the sake of my children. When I moved to DC, I totally underestimated the value of raising my kids near my parents. But when I moved to DC, I didn't have kids yet. |
