Don't you just hate it?
Especially when they are Americans on vacation. Americans were on television being interviewed by American media and they started saying "meters" & "kilometers" JESUS CHRIST!!!!! Just say "feet" & "miles" like you would if you were here. Being in Europe does not make you sophisticated. Get over yourselves. |
|
Wow.
Do you realize that the US is one of the only nations that does not use metric measurements? Our kids have to learn two systems of measurement because of it. I say, when in Rome................ |
| Typical anti-science American BS. |
| I am hopeless when it comes to the metric system. Seriously. It's embarrassing but I know none of the conversions and would be lost in a conversation that used the metric system. |
| Even if I am in outer space I am still saying feet & miles. |
| Damn Canadiens. |
| Blame Pokemon. It's all km. |
|
No, I don't. And I think it's hilarious that you think that people use metric measurements out of some sense of sophistication.
"May I bother you for 5 milliliters of Grey Poupon?" "But of course..." |

If you only took your head out of your ass long enough to realize that there are way more out there. Maybe people say that because they are knowledgeable and more familiar with the metric system than you ever will be. Not because they want to make you feel bad for not being smarter. It's not all about you, cupcake.
I use the metric system all the time at work because I have to. So when I am talking about measurements and I drop a "kilogram" or a "meter", it's because that's what my brain is programmed to do, not because I'm trying to be pretentious. You need to get out more. |
|
No, I don't hate it. I hope we get rid of the English system in my lifetime and finally adopt the much more sensible and easier metric system.
Of all the things to get upset about in these times, this seems fairly petty of you. |
| My 10 year old does this when it is the more appropriate even measurement. I think I hear it more in terms of a centimeters, but kids are definitely comfortable in both systems today. |
Thats what crashed one of Mars probes, you know They forgot to convert feet to meters and probe crashed.
I am European and have hard time with american system, as it doesnt makes sense to me, at least metric system is decimal, so much easier to multiply/substract/divide. |
Bein oui. |
Eh, bien oui. |
