Has anyone on here gone on a vlcd? |
If you're going to do such a low calorie diet you need to be under the supervision of a nutritionist. |
Wow that's really low and not sustainable. I'm guessing it's temporary to loose weight for an event? I'm doing the 1500 calorie plus 11,000 steps a day. So far I'm doing good and no urge to over eat. |
Yes, and I nearly died as a result. Eating Disorders are no joke. |
Without being mandated by a doctor, that's a really stupid, irresponsible, and unhealthy thing to do.
Treat your body better. |
It would under Dr supervision. The Dr wants to prescribe "shakes" but has said people have done it without the supplements. I am wondering if anyone else has undergone a diet plan like this? What foods were OK?
|
What is the reason? Also be aware that your body reacts differently to that calorie amount and its not necessarily more effective for weight loss than a moderately higher calorie count. |
Yes, and it was called an eating disorder. Made me very sick and completely suppressed my metabolism for years to boot. Don't do it. Weight Watchers, portion control, exercise, slow and steady weight loss are the way to go. |
What kind of "doctor" is this? Get another doctor. At the very least get a 2nd, and 3rd opinion. |
Eat fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and drink a lot of water. You will gradually lose weight and keep it off. |
A weight loss center/clinic Dr.
I was referred by my PCP. I'm 5'5 220lbs. And at risk for diabetes, infertility (no longer get periods) , ect.. He saidbthe goal is to lose 4-5lbs a week to get back into a safe weight zone. Then gradually work back up. |
That's a terrible method, and not at ALL a "safe zone" to lose weight. Losing more than 2lbs a week unless you're severely morbidly obese, is not good for you. Plus, your skin will not bounce back as well as with slower weight loss. I'm 5'2, and weighed close to 190. I cut out eating out, ate all the fruits and vegetables I wanted, plus whole grains, nuts etc, and small treats a few times a week. Never counted calories, but was probably eating close to 1500-1800/day (plus exercise). It took me more than a year to get to 130, but it didn't drain me, and I've kept the weight off. It's sustainable. It's doable. It's not restrictive. Slow and steady wins the weight loss race. |
Nothing at that calorie level is ok unless it is done in hospital, under extreme circumstances. Even then I would question it. Who is this Dr? Wouldn't be someone by the name of Bernstein, would it? |
OP this kind of clinic puts your health at more risk. Your PCP recommended it? You need a new doctor.
It seems to me even people on "My 600 pound life" consume more calories than that during their initial phase, while trying to qualify for surgery. And THAT is done for TV. |
Maintenance calories for 600 lbs is a bit higher than 200 lbs. Math. |
