| I am 13dpo (per temping). My cycle averages 25 days which would have meant period on Sunday. But, I was waiting to test until 14dpo because I recently got Mirena removed and thought it might just be normal lengthening of my cycle/didn't want to get my hopes up. Yesterday I had one light spot and took a pregnancy test figuring it would be negative and I could have a big glass of wine. Instead, BFP! But now more spotting (very light, pink) Is this ok? Do I need to be worried? Isn't it too late for implantation bleeding? |

I wouldn't be too concerned, I also had spotting at 10 DPO. It actually wasn't spotting, but probably 15ml of dark red blood so I thought my period started. It discontinued the same day, and I got my BFP that day.
I did call my doctor, who wanted to know my blood type, in the event that the bleeding was because I needed a rhogam shot. She had me come in and do a beta which confirmed pregnancy. I've been fine ever since. |
| I dunno, but I think you can have that big glass of wine regardless. |
| I wouldn't worry unless it bright red and more than just spotting (that's what my doctor told me as I had spotting during my first pregnancy for the first few weeks). |
| I had something similar. Sounds like implantation bleeding to me. Or the beginning of a chemical, only time will tell. |
But it can't be implantation spotting if she's already had a BFP, right? Would have had to implant earlier for hormones to rise enough to get the positive. |
Have you had any miscarriages before? This could be totally normal but if you've had miscarriages before I would go to the OB and get a blood test done to determine progesterone levels. You may need supplementation to help the pregnancy along. |
I think implantation takes a while, with some burrowing around. At least that's how I rationalized light spotting after my BFP. |
| OP here. One prior pregnancy, totally normal, no prior miscarriages. Still very light spotting pink/brown but not even enough to really need a pantyliner. |
| PS no implantation bleeding or spotting at all in my prior pregnancy |
| Pink or brown is fine, it's bright red you need to be concerned about. |

With my most recent pregnancy, I had spotting/light bleeding from 7-18 dpo. It was on and off red/pink/brown with no clear pattern like a period would have. Still thinking it was a light early period, I didn't take a pregnancy test until 18 dpo which just happened to be the last day of any spotting. The doctors didn't have an answer other than that it might have just been prolonged implantation bleeding. But they ordered several betas and ultrasounds which revealed that the growth didn't match up with my dates. The whole saga ended with a missed miscarriage at 9 weeks. With my first pregnancy, which carried to term, I only had a tiny bit of implantation bleeding that lasted 1 day, around 7 or 8 dpo.
It sounds like your spotting is much lighter than what I had, and probably not indicative of a problem like mine. But just wanted to share in case your spotting continues or picks up. As awful as the whole thing was, I'm glad I had tests done rather than assuming everything was OK. The loss would have been much harder to take. Good luck! |
