| We're planning a 2 day getaway with our kids this month (ages: 6, 4, and 1) to either London or Amsterdam (we live in Brussels, so will take the train). I've been to both cities a few times, but never with my kids. Would love views/advice! We love staying in a hotel with a pool if possible, as it presents a nice option for the older two while the younger one naps... |

Both a great kid friendly cities.
I'm dutch, but I'd go to London as it will be super cheap now. |
| London will be easier. |
| Save Amsterdam for tulip time in the spring. |
I was going to say exactly this. My kids loved the tulips.. |

I was just in Amsterdam with the kids a couple weeks ago over the weekend. No real surprise but the city center on the weekend is not really geared for kids. Sure there is the odd restaurant that will give you crayons and the NOMA and the canals are lovely and POFFERTJES but the city core really attracts a different element.
If you stay a bit further out and hit the parks and some museums and whatnot it's a bit more kid-friendly, but some of the others bits of the city centre (and not just the famous adult parts) weren't exactly where I wanted to be with young kids as there were quite a few drunks and partiers in transit in between. |
| London is my favorite city, however Amsterdam is great for kids because it's very walkable and riding the trains and canal boats is fun for them. |
