Shall I travel internationally 16 days after transfer?

I am asked to travel to south america for business 16 days after the transfer. Shall I make the trip? My doctor says it is fine, but I am nervious and do not want to take any chances. Any harm to the pregnancy or the baby?

Traveling is not in and of itself a risk. But...you need to take very good care of yourself. No lifting of anything heavier than 20lbs, sleep well, be very careful about what you eat, and stay away from people who might be sick. I would also tell someone you work with about your situation, so they can help you with your luggage and keep an extra eye on you.

If you have the option to forgo the trip, I would. If you don't have a choice, just treat yourself like you would treat someone who was very fragile.

Fingers crossed for you! Good luck!

This is just me (and I am very paranoid) but I would be worried about what would happen if I had an early m/c or chemical pregnancy while away. If that happened I think it would be hard to be away from my husband and on a business trip where I had to be professional all the time. I'd be esp worried about this if it was going to be a long trip. Of course, the odds of a CP or M/C while away are probably very small...

I would go but try to take it easy. I've had way to many "negatives" to postpone things. I am going to take a flight for a beach vacation over my 2 ww this summer. I hope it calms the nerves some. It will be my 3rd IVF. ugh

I can't see why it would harm a pregnancy - if you do end of being pregnant, you'll only be 4.5-5 weeks along, so the only thing you have to worry about is avoiding certain foods (like raw-milk and soft cheeses, raw fish, undercooked pork, etc.). I have a friend who traveled throughout central and south america during both her pregnancies and she just took a few simple precautions.

agree with PP; plus if you're someone who tends to worry during the first tri until all the screening/diagnostics are over it might be a good way to keep your mind off of it!

OP here. Thanks for advice. It turns out that I have no choice. I told my boss I had a condition which requires help in lifting, and he had one of my colleague who goes with me to help. Well, as it turns out, the colleague himself would arrive one day later than me and leaves a day earlier - so not a much help and I guess I have just to pack light.

Pack lightly but please don't worry too much!
The embryo at that point in pregnancy is size of a pencil point and is snuggled deep in your uterine lining. Your uterus is still very small and is stationary in your body. It won't be jarred by what you lift or how you bend.
I have 2.5 year old twins and just went through IVF again (now 10 weeks pregnant). I took 2 days off and then resumed my normal life which involves daily lifting and carrying of the (35 pound) twins, bending all over the place, doing a zillion sets of stairs, etc. When I was tempted to worry I picturing a very small embryo securely tucked into a very small uterus deep within the core of my body.

I hope you can enjoy your travels!
