Anyone have recommendations for daycare options in the Hyattsville/College Park area? We're looking to move our toddler to a daycare closer to our home in University Park. We are already on the waitlists at Greenwood School and Heritage Center. Thanks! |
We are very happy at Sunny Days on River Rd. in Riverdale Park (and I'd be glad to tell you more about it). I also toured Easter Seals at Archives II in College Park and thought it seemed fine. I wasn't as impressed with St. Jerome's, but we've got a handful of neighbors who like it. |
OP I just wanted to let you know that I my toddler has been on the wait list for Heritage for almost two years. I put her on when she was 7 months old to start when she was 1.5. She will be 2.5 next month. I have an infant as well who has been called up when there is an opening but it seems nearly impossible to get in there as a toddler.
You may already be familiar with these but there are a number of centers on Queens Chapel Rd between Eastern Ave and East-West highway, including at least one in-home and also church-based centers. I don't have a recommendation but you can see some here: https://www.google.com/maps/search/day+care/@38.961761,-76.9526438,15z |
My son (3) is doing summer camp at Hyattsville Hills Child & Family Center. We've been there a few weeks and he's been happy to go to school everyday (which is shocking because that was not the case when he was in school before we moved from FL). The teachers and director have all been really nice so far. I plan on keeping him there for the school year too. They accept kids 2 and up.

Resurrecting this thread because I couldn't find anything more recent. Any current recommendations for this area? If you have a recommendation, and you know if there are spots available and the cost of tuition I'd love that info too! |
Sunny Days/Georgetown Hill in Riverdale on River Rd has space. $1903 for infants.
Last I check, Heritage has space (at least 2 months ago they did). There's a new Bright Horizons in College Park. The infant rooms have a waiting list but the toddler rooms do not. I'm not sure on the pricing. Good luck! |
Holy smokes! Close to $2000 a month for daycare? I don't know why but I thought the average was closer to $1000 a month or $250 a week.... is this totally wrong? Thanks for the info PP! |
PP here.
Yes unfortunately the daycare prices in this area have risen exponentially since the beginning of the pandemic. You might want to look into some in home daycares in the area. I've heard good things about Hopes & Dreams but I don't know about their availability. Good luck! |
