good books / websites for starting your own consulting business?

I'm thinking about quitting my job and starting my own consulting practice. Will definitely do it if my husband gets the job he's in line for, which has a big salary increase. We have plenty of $$ in the bank so that my getting off to a slow/modest start will not be a problem, plus we'll save $$ on the after-school child care I would have needed when my daughter leaves day care and starts kindergarten in the fall.

I have some ideas about how to make it happen but would love to have the benefit of other people's experience about this.

OP here: public policy advocacy. Emphasis on strategic communications, and providing deliverables like speeches, op-eds, lobbying materials, web content, reports, and white papers.
