PARCC scores?

Anonymous
With all the talk about report cards, I was wondering...any idea when the individual PARCC scores will come? I thought they were supposed to be earlier this year now that they've had a chance to get the kinks out. We got the school-wide scores weeks ago, so clearly they are graded and all. Not sure why it would take so long to send out the individual scores.

I thought those school wide scores were for last year.

Where did you get school wide scores? It is not posted to the state web site -- they are still showing 2015 PARCC scores.

MCPS students didn't take PARRC until May 2016, so you didn't see any 2016 scores weeks ago.

Yes, I do think we are likely going to get scores sooner, but I'm not holding my breath for any time prior to October, quite honestly.

You'll see the scores in December

I'm the OP. I just got the scores in the mail--maybe it was last week, not weeks ago (time is starting to blur for me as we head into the summer). I got two copies of them, one for each kid, even though they go to the same school. Did no one else get them? They sure seemed like they reflected this year's scores. (I got last year's last year.)

There is no way you already have this year's PARCC scores. They are from last year, maybe just re-sent?

I got some a couple of weeks ago. I think it was 2015 results, but it's not in front of me so not sure.

OP, just curious... Is your kid in ES, MS, or HS?

I'm wondering if some scores were recalculated for the school for whatever reason and hence a new school report.

But if you just got the mailing, do you still have the copy?

I have a rising 6th grader. A few weeks ago, I received her with grade MSA Science score, and a report about the school wide 2015 PARCC scores.
OP, did you get actual individual PARCC score reports for your kids recently? The cover letter of the report I received is from Larry Bowers, and specifically says it is the 2015 School Progress Report Card.

Districts didn't receive 2015 scores until this past November.

It probably won't take as long to receive the 2016 scores as it did the previous year but there will still be kinks in it this year. Where I believe they are expected to be sent to districts around early August this time around. But then it will take some time for districts to turn around the scores to report to parents.

I went to a meeting about testing at our local elementary school this spring. MCPS testing reps said that they expect to receive 2016 results in the July/Aug timeframe. Individual scores should be send to parents in Oct.

This is admittedly a naive question, but do the individual PARCC scores matter for anything?

It depends. If you live in a W cluster, and your kids bombs on PARCC, it is because the test is flawed, the curriculum sucks, and there is too much testing. If you live in the downcountry or NEC, and your kid bombs, it is because those schools suck, and poverty is contagious.

Has the county reported 2016 scores yet? Not individual but by school? Does anyone know when this will come out...
