Infertility Support and Discussion
|
I was told that after your trigger shot, you should ovulate 36-48 hours later. About 24 hours later I was starting to feel bloated like a period coming on then twinges and cramping like with the start of a period. Our IUI is not until this afternoon, had we missed our window? Does anyone know how long it takes for the egg to reach the follopian tubes where it should meet up with the sperms? For that fact how long it takes the sperm to get to the right place?
I tried looking at the fertility websites but all they discuss is IVF and very little about IUI. Thanks. |
| I don't recall if I felt cramping, but you should have the IUI done 24-36 hours after the trigger shot. We had three IUIs done and the 1st two were done 12 hours after the trigger. The 3rd time, we had one IUI done at 12 hours and another one done at 36 hours and it worked. I feel that are first 2 IUS were done too soon after the trigger and by the time the egg dropped, the sperm were not viable anymore. |
Thank you. I was worried that perhaps my IUI was too late. My IUI was about 40 hours after the trigger shot. Still feeling kinda crampy and bloated (which I'm told is b/c of the effectes of the trigger medication-Ovidrel). Hope it worked. |
| BTW, in all my cycles, I always felt my ovulation around 42 hours after trigger, so 36 hours would be perfect. Even if the IUI was a few hours after ovulation, it would still be good timing. |
