cough suppressant

Anonymous
I am 10 weeks along and have been coughing constantly for the past 3 nights and have had 2-3 hours of sleep total. Needless to say, I am miserable right now.

Anyone know/used a safe cough suppressant?

I don't think there are any. What's causing the coughing? Is it post nasal drip from allergies? If so, a neti pot or using plain saline drops in the nose can help a bit.

Honey by the spoonful helps too, some say more than drugs.

Yes, I believe it is a post nasal drip from allergies. I have tried saline drops and honey and it just isn't kicking in. I will go and buy the neti pot today as well!

I just need to get out of this....

Definitely go for the neti pot and see if your doctor says you can take some benadryl to help you sleep. It may be too early at 10 weeks but hopefully the two in combination will help. Also, do you have a humidifier you can use?

Reiter Hill and Johnson OK Robitussin or Robitussin DM: http://www.rhjn-obgyn.com/patient/expecting/default.asp

I felt guilty taking it but ultimately had to in order to get some sleep, and everything was fine. Feel better!
