I can relate to Taylor’s obsession with this man. I am not a musician but dated one in my teens and early 20s, and our relationship started out as a secret too (because he was with someone else 😬). We both loved rock music and had always paid close attention to lyrics. We would leave each other notes in our cubbies referencing songs that fit situations we were in or insert short lyrics in conversations with each other or in a larger group. No one else had any idea of what was going on. It was a very special bond, and I often felt a high like almost no other.

She's american is about Halsey. Roadkill contains lyrics about Taylor. The Happiness video from the 1975 references her "Cowboy Like me" both lyrically and visually. M&YTS...just look at those initials.
