Reformed frump needs help with very casual

OK, so I swore - SWORE - I would never wear sweats out of the house again after my major wardrobe makeover. Now, on weekends, all I have are jeans or dressier things. I work full-time in a pretty conservative office, so I have the clothes that go with that.

If you just want to throw something comfy on to run a quick errand on the weekend, especially if you have been working crazy hours and you really are sick of your jeans, what do you wear? I somehow don't think going out and buying designer sweats, as if somehow they are an improvement on my old ones, is the right solution. Help.

Casual skirts or dresses. Check out Title Nine, for ex. I do wear shorts and capris -- though that is a no-no for some on this site. Tank tops, fitted t-shirts.

I think you're right to avoid sweats as they are not really flattering on anyone, imo.

Walking shorts or cute short skirts, tank top or tee.

There are lots of casual pants out there that aren't jeans. Check out Boden for casual looks. They have great weekend clothes. Nice casual shirts, skirts and pants that flatter different body types.

Pick up some casual skirts that you can wear with nice tshirts. Old navy/gap/target for tshirts and skirts at Target, Ann Taylor Loft, or sometimes old navy, will likel work. May be mix in a bit of Anthropologie on sale for some other ideas. Also check out Filenes basement or Loehmans for some casual things. I like white capri pants only and if you are fairly slim. I do think they look nice with just about anything. As does a white casual skirt in the summer and sandals. Tons of cute, not expensive sandals out there. I would say for 200 you could have an easy summer early fall casual weekend wardrobe.

4-5 tops
2-3 skirts
1 capri
2 sandals

Pick up a few fun necklaces. . .

Casual dresses.

White pants look awesome in the summer -- just as easy and versatile as jeans, but automatically a little bit nicer.

Please only wear tank tops if your arms are in great shape.

I like casual dresses and sandals for the weekend. Only one thing to choose and looks pulled together. Also feels cool.

I am a dress gal-- love em. Lot's of casual ones to choose from that are sure to flatter your figure. Pair with cute sandals or flips and you are good to go!

OP here. Thanks for all the suggestions. As for tank tops, although I have the arms for them (purely genetic, I assure you), I do not have the skin tone unless you want a literal roadmap to my circulatory system.

I will check all these suggestions out. Thanks again!

I love casual dresses in the summer, but this year I am having trouble finding replacements for those that need to be retired. Any suggestions where I might find a few?

if you want something super comfortable... then yoga pants.

you can also wear a skort

Yikes- don't wear a skort, for heaven's sake! I like the white pants idea, but I wouldn't do it if there's any danger you might, say, pick up a toddler who may happen to be wearing shoes!

I'm just so glad i'm not the only one! I'm as pale as they come...even babies tan better than me. I don't tan to save my life. Nurses love me, finding a vein is so incredibly easy. sucks.

to the PP who wants to find new dresses, I just bought one at Athleta and LOVE it! It fits great, is stylish, and is a super-nice stretchy, soft cotton. They also have some linen ones, as I recall.
