Heads up - Europe for $500 round-trip from Montreal or Toronto

Anonymous
In case anyone is looking at booking flights for later this year - a HUGE fare war started today between airlines operating flights from Montreal/Toronto/Quebec City to Europe. Tickets to multiple destinations can be had for around 500 CAD, so even cheaper in USD. There is availability from August 2016 to March 2017. If you can find a cheap flight or drive from DC, the savings are massive, especially for families. Yulair has a good summary of the various possibilities.. It doesn't get much better than this!

It's a 10 hr drive or more from here. Every time we have to fly there, we spend at least $325/pp to get there. Fare wars only help from IAD or BWI......

I mean, sure but flights from DCA/IAD/BWI are rarely under $1000 during holidays. If you have a family of 4 or 5, making the drive somehow doesn't seem that bad when you're looking at $2000-2500 in savings.. Obviously depends on your financial means and motivation though!

Driving from here to Montreal in the dead of winter to get on a flight to Europe just to save money sounds like a terrible idea. Obviously YMMV.

Thanks, OP! We are in Mass and its an 'easy' drive to Montreal. Flights for our kids' april vacation week are at $570 to Paris!

I am seriously going to have to think about this.....

I'll take it also. I have a friend in Montreal I could visit for a day or two. Thanks OP.
