I'm a patient at CFA (Dr. Sacks) and just completed my first course of clomid with an ovidrel trigger plus timed intercourse (I ovulate infrequently/irregularly). At my last monitoring appt, the day they told me to use the trigger shot, the nurse indicated that she wants me to come back to the office for monitoring a week later. I'm wondering if anyone knows why? I suppose they could confirm that I ovulated, but I'm not sure I see the point in that (does Ovidrel ever not work)? And obviously it's way too soon to know if I'm pregnant. I'm worried that they are just trying to suck more money out of me - I had that feeling too when they wanted me to come in twice a week for monitoring starting when my largest follicle was just 12mm. Thoughts?
They want to make sure you ovulated. Are you paying per visit? As I recall, it's one price for an IUI. They don't make much money off them, and every time you come in, that has a cost.
I'm also a patient at CFA and will be going in tomorrow for my 1 week post-IUI blood test. They are testing your progesterone to see if you ovulated and that you have a progesterone level that could potentially support a healthy pregnancy. Unfortunately it does not give any clue as to whether you are pregnant but the good news is that I did not have to pay a copay when I went in for this last month. They told me if it's just a blood test there is no copay, which is great because I have a growing stack of receipts. The one next week is a pregnancy test, but last month I got AF the day of that test so I went in for more bloodwork and an ultrasound to start the whole process over again. Good luck, OP!

Just chiming in to say I've had two successful pregnancies with Dr. Sacks and love him. I started with the Clomid for a similar situation but FSH plus Ovidrel is what ended up being the better combo for me. I did have a lot of monitoring because your follicles and blood can change very quickly depending on the person. They are definitely not an office that has ever given me the impression they are trying to make money off of me.
Good luck! |
Thanks, good to hear, everyone. I did not do IUI and probably will try another round of clomid and timed intercourse before I do IUI if it doesn't work out this time, but fingers crossed that it does!
Update: Went in today, progesterone looks good. Now I just need to somehow make it another week until they can do a blood test. Thank god I have a busy weekend!
