Recent DC job offer, likely moving to Arlington. Preschool for my 3yo?

We are moving from Brooklyn and he was at a great co-op. I imagine most schools have waiting lists. Any leads would be much appreciated.

Where in Arlington? Also where in DC are you working?
I preferred having DS close to my office for preschool.
He was about a block away and it was perfect.

Likely in Potomac Yard. I'll be working downtown close to the McPherson Sq. Metro Station.

Maybe some of the under the radar church-based ones in N Arlington have openings.

you mentioned working, but you also mentioned a co-op. Are you looking for a full time preschool or a part-time? I can't think of any full-time preschools that are co-ops.
You will be able to find something- 3's are much easier to come by then 2's.

If you want to go further south in Alexandria, try meeting house, Tauxemont or fort hunt. All are great coops.

I actually think you will have better luck with a Montessori school. I think most of the church preschools and co-ops are full with wait lists for 3 year olds.

OP, we are happy to help you out but we need narrower parameters. There are zillions of options here but it's important to be near either work or home due to so much traffic which can mean hours of commuting when the preschool or daycare calls you to come pick up your child who has come down with a fever or tummy bug and you are expected to be there within 30 mins.

Welcome to Virginia! I hope you like it here.

Try Madison Day School. They are expecting to open a second location sometime in July. I was on the waitlist and recently got a call.

Do you need daycare or just regular preschool?

Thanks, everyone. Your responses and other threads on this site have been incredibly helpful. I have scheduled a few tours and will also look into Madison Day School.

I work at GAO and just saw our preschool (Tiny Findings) has an opening in the twos...you could ask about the 3s. It's downtown and I loved it when my DD went there.

Check out Communikids in falls church. Not far from Arlington.

If you will be driving into DC and are looking at full day care, check out First Baptist CDC in Dupont. Because of the PK3 option in DC, 3 year old slots are much easier to come by in the city than in the suburbs.

If you might be in S. Arlington check out Funshine Preschool.
