Going in the pool after baby is born

Anonymous
I am due any day now with #2 and I'd love to take DC1 to the pool this summer but will likely still be bleeding for a while (4-6 weeks) after giving birth to #2 and am pretty sure I wont be allowed to use tampons after delivery. I'd hate for DC1 to miss out. Any suggestions?

Were you not bleeding anymore? With a pad?

How old is DC#1 - can you hang out in the baby pool where the water goes as high as your ankles?

I echo 1457 - I gave birth 3 weeks ago and I also have pretty much stopped bleeding. I use a panty liner when I go out just in case, but otherwise I guess I had a really quick recovery.

OP - we go to our community's pool - we go around 430pm/5pm when it's not so hot (and after nap time), leave newborn in the shade and spritz her with some water (tap water in spray bottle) and take DD#1 (23 months) into the baby pool. On the weekend, DH is with me and we tag team as to who watches the newborn and who takes DD#1 into the big pool.

Maybe you don't need to actually be in the pool with DC1...maybe your husband or someone else can be in the pool while you just watch...

OP here
DC1 is only 15 months so I definitely need to go in with him. Hopefully I wont be bleeding for too long, but DH is not home during the day when I'd most like to take advantage of the pool, so having him help is not really practical. I cant remember how long I bled after DC1, but maybe recovery will be a lot quicker this time.

Yuck. Well, I guess this is why swimming pools have chlorine!

Ummmm....so Ms. Sensitive here ever go swimming while menstruating? Newsflash -- kids poop and pee in pools too, lose bandaids and their scabs fall off. Yep, you're sharing water with other humans, and they have body functions, and that IS why pools are chlorinated. Grow up and maybe try not to be such a fussy little bitch. How do you know this poster wasn't fully healed?
