recommend OBGYN for TTC/pregnancy and anti-depressant medication

I see there are several threads here discussing the pros and cons of meds during TTC and pregnancy. I am in a similar situation. Went of Cymbalta and have crashed and burned these last 2 weeks. Psychiatrist recommends Zoloft. I would like to talk to an OBGYN but I have no idea where to start. Thank you.

I went to Dr. Scialli at the GW Associates practice. He has a focus on Reproductive and developmental toxicology, and made me feel SOOOO much better about the decision to stay on meds during my pregnancy. I have zero regrets or worries at this point, though I did decide to change to a different med than what I was on. He said the original med would have been fine, but this one was well-studied. If you can get in to see him (he is exclusively at the downtown practice), it's worth it. He literally wrote the database that most OBs use to rate drugs during pregnancy. Here's his bio:

"Tony Scialli is a specialist in reproductive and developmental toxicology and in obstetrics and gynecology. In addition to his consulting services, he is Clinical Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at George Washington University School of Medicine and Adjunct Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and of Pharmacology and Physiology at Georgetown University Medical Center. Dr. Scialli directs the Reproductive Toxicology Center, a non-profit foundation in Washington, D.C., which maintains Reprotox®, an online data base on the effects on reproduction of drugs, chemicals, biologicals, and physical agents.

Dr. Scialli received his Doctor of Medicine degree from Albany Medical College and completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at George Washington University Hospital. He took a fellowship in Reproductive Toxicology with Sergio Fabro, one of the original thalidomide researchers. Dr. Scialli was Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Residency Program Director at Georgetown University Medical Center for many years. He continues to be actively involved in medical education and teaches on a regular basis at academic medical centers in Washington, D.C. He founded and was editor-in-chief of the journal Reproductive Toxicology for 17 years and is a past president of the Teratology Society."

My psychiatrist switched me to an old-style SSRI (Celexa), and I've responded well to it. She said I absolutely should be medicated--it is worse to go without meds if you need them. But there is more experience with the older meds, which is why they prefer them in pregnancy. My midwife practice agreed that I should be medicated. I would encourage you to see a psychiatrist to discuss, rather than an OB. Good luck!

My Gyn (doesn't deliver anymore) was Dr Virginia Thompson and I found her very easy to talk to about medications. She and my psychiatrist both told me that Zoloft would be safe during pregnancy if I remember correctly. My first pregnancy actually helped calm me and I didn't feel I needed the meds.
