Has anyone found DCs teacher making mistakes with the grades reported on their report card?
If so what it difficult to get corrected. |
It shouldn't be difficult. It might just take time to update in the system.
What if it impacts other students as well
This happened to us a few years ago. We had to go through administration to get it corrected. It was a mess. The teacher did not come back the following year, but I don't know if it was related to the grade problem.
Unless the teacher had inaccurate grades for multiple students, I doubt his/her leaving is connected to a grading error. People make mistakes. Having over 130 kids on one's load isn't a cakewalk. Mistakes are made. Think of someone dealing with data all day. Teachers have hundreds of assignments to grade and they constantly face interruptions. They're not sitting in a quiet cubicle adding numbers to an Excel sheet. |
We had an error on a final exam grade in January. It only affected our child. After we figured out what happened, it took almost another quarter to get an updated report card but it was not much work on our part.
After grades have been submitted, a teacher can still see the grade book grades for a period of time. However, it is the registrar who has to make the official change in the system. A teacher can notify the registrar that a change needs to be made, but ultimately it is that person who updates the record. From a teacher's perspective, this is a 5-minute process - check the grade in the grade book, report the change to the registrar. As for when it shows up on the record, that is anybody's guess....
One of my student's parents pointed out an error. It turns out I out in the correct percentage but the system was giving the incorrect letter grade. The student had a 95% but was given a G for good. G is 80-89%. So it was a system error. My admin went in and manually changed the grade.
I am going through this as well and it appears as if the school does not want to admit a mistake and/or have other parents question their DC grade. MCPS student here.
7:25 again. My child's test was run against the wrong scantron answers. He got like a 13% even though he otherwise had an A for the semester. Teacher was happy to correct once we figured out he took a different version.
Went through it. Took countless calls, emails, and four months of time. Nightmare.
I've this nightmare as well. Teacher do not want to admit a mistake. The resource teach (lead teacher) doesnot want more parents asking for a grade change. The administration supports their teachers. Frustrating cycle.
