Comfortable collar for small dog

Anonymous
I'm looking for a super comfortable collar and tag holder, or tag alternative, for my small dog. Right now I keep his collar off him while he's in the house because the tags are so long and loud. Plus he doesn't seem very comfortable with it on while he's trying to sleep.

Are there any products that would help with this? There are tiny cat collars that seem much more comfortable. I could look into those. What about some kind of ID tag alternative?

I have a small dog, but I don't use a collar at all on her. None of them seem comfortable. My dog wears a vest harness when she goes out for a walk and I remove it when she is inside. With the vest harness, the tag is one her back, but you could also try attaching it to the leash.

I take mine off my dog when he's not on a walk. I have a longer haired breed and the collars would mat his hair terribly. The jingling of the collar tags was annoying too. My dog doesn't run out the door or ever leave my side though, so I'm not worried about him getting lost without ID.

Petsmart has a whole aisle of collars if you're looking for a comfy one. They also sell slide ID tags that won't jingle, but the rabies and the county license is always going to dangle and make noise.

My advice:

1. I couldn't stand the clanking of tags either. So I bought embroidered collars for my dogs. Google it - your name and phone number are stitched in to the collar.

2. Also google "Quiet Spot" Pet Tag Silencer. This allows you to keep the tags on, but they are covered in a little "jacket" to prevent clanging.

3. Also make sure that your dog is microchipped, in case he gets out while you have the collar off - tags and collars can also fall off.

PP here. There are also tags that slide on to the collar, like the loop on a watch band. Not sure what the are called.

Thanks to everyone who posted.

I'm thinking I'll look into the slide ID tag and the embroidered collar for him to have on while in the house and backyard. I'll attach his other tags to the harness we use for walks.

On nice days we keep the door open so that he can go in and out to the back yard, this is why he needs a collar on most of the time.

My embroidered collars are from Colorful Images (online). They may sell the slider tags too? Or maybe those machines at Petco, Petsmart, or Unleashed would have them. Not sure. But I like the Colorful Images collars.
