Anyone else watch this?
DH and I have enjoyed this show. A little predictable but still full of suspense. Interesting premise. Anyone else looking forward to the season 3 premiere tonight? |
| Yes |
| Aight. I'll try harder to find it in the search. |
| No I mean we watch it, go ahead and start a thread, back to back episodes touching |

I found this but with only 2 answers:
http://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/402040.page#5513152 Ha ha takes me back...Ebola. Remember when we were extremely afraid of Ebola here in the US? Anyway....until I or someone else finds an existing thread, we'll keep discussing here. |
| I am so behind on my shows, including GT! What is the premise of the show? One of my favourite shows is Black Sails. Season 3 has started and I haven't had a chance to catch up! http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2375692/ |

It's the last ship of the American navy. There is a huge pandemic that leaves the world wrecked, and the research biologist who can cure is on the ship (not a coincidence). It has been through two seasons of what happens after that. Cool if you love the military. |
Oh, sounds good... I need to binge watch so many shows this summer. |
| I watched the first season and then I admit, I kind of forgot about it. I liked it though. |
| We live in Southern Virginia and we laughed at the way they say Little Creek incorrectly (stress is on Little, not Creek), and the way they say Norfolk by pronouncing the R and the l. (It's Naw-Fuhk). |
That, and the landscape behind them (when there is land) is so obvious hilly coastal California. Not flat-ish va and really really flat Florida. |

I loved it and binged it all the way through. I liked the part about choosing what kind of person you're going to be when the world ends. Very Durkheim. The military provides a nice frame for the question. You see the range of choices folks have made as the ship travels. Lots of predictable stuff. I appreciate sacrifice, so seeing some of that over the course of the journey was cool. Some people make idiot decisions, others are absolute heroes! I'm not a flag waving patriot, but even I was proud of the moments when people showed their deeply held beliefs in the best of what America's supposed to stand for, and maintain it even though the nation as we know it is over. They deal with fear of the Other well, and show how you work with or change that. I speak Russian and Spanish, so it was fun listening in on those characters and chuckling at some of the translations. Not sure I'd follow it week-to-week, but had a great time with the continued viewing. |

Speaking to the predictably, setting and language being slightly inexact... I always have to remember it's a summer show and has a lower budget. For the budget they have, they do a great job. And I like that it doesn't get too heavy, while still addressing dark, dark subjects.
I was the pp who posted about the landscape. Love Rachel and the British biologist too. I sorta like the new president, and his family's story was sad. The whole Richmond (was it Richmond?) story line was crazy but based in a potential reality. Scary and revealing. |

I'm really enjoying this series, along with "Containment", which is along the same lines - viral epidemic and a city in Georgia being completely quarantined. If you like "The Last Ship", you should check out that miniseries.
Since I like them though, they will probably get cancelled. Seems like every series I like gets cancelled. :/ |
