| We would like to go to NYC by car but DH is reluctant to park in the city. Does anyone know a place in the suburbs where it's safe to park but still easy to get on train/to the city? |
| Jersey city. Right across the river. |
You can do that and take NJT in. You can also park in the Metropark station lot and take Amtrak in. |
| Totally safe to park in the city. We used to live there and parked all over midtown with no issues. Now we just prepay for a garage and enjoy the city without the hassle of the car. |
| I agree that it's fine to park in the city. Where are you going? There are garages everywhere. You could also park in Jersey City or Hoboken. |

Outside NYC if you don't want to drive/park, there's the Secaucus Junction transit station parking lot as well as the others mentioned.
In the city, I've never had a problem finding street parking on weekends in the Columbia University Area (Riverside Dr, 115th-120th). You can also search for (and even reserve) lot/garage parking using Google maps. |
| PS It is also easier to drive in NYC than in DC--some place/times are congested, but signage is much better. |
| I never have much trouble parking on the weekend on the Upper East Side. My friend lives at 94 and Lexington and I always find a spot, more easily than in Georgetown for sure. |

I would park in the city.
Otherwise park in Hoboken or Easport Part of jersey city and take the PATH in |
Sorry meant to type Newport part of Jers City |
