Website to find hotels around route?

We are taking a road trip later this month and taking a route that is new. We will be driving part way at night and finishing the drive the next day. In the past, we have had trouble finding a clean, available, affordable place when we are ready to stop, so I want to make a reservation this time. I know about how far we will go the first night. Does anyone know of a website that I can give my route and easily identify a point that is x miles from the start? TIA!

I think Mapquest will do that. Probably Google Maps too.
