My nephew is turning 7 and I have no idea what to get him. Parents weren't very helpful. Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hex bugs and snap circuits are the favorite here. Diary of a wimpy kid is good but the language is not great. Legos depend on the child - hit or miss here.

My son is really into spy things. Spy Gear is the brand name. Box says spyxhq.com. Saw it in a toy store but haven't checked Amazon yet.

My 7 yo requested Pokemon for his bday. He is not big on hex bugs (still have unopened box from xmas), but would be thrilled with legos, diary of whimpy kid book or science experiment in the box.

Any of the Doctor Cool digging / mining kits:

https://www.amazon.com/Discover-with-Dr-Cool/b/ref=bl_dp_s_web_3294866011?ie=UTF8&node=3294866011&field-lbr_brands_browse-bin=Discover+with+Dr.+Cool

Smithsonian brand makes similar kits. They're much less expensive (40% off coupon at Michaels). Not as nice as the Dr Cool versions but still fun. DD and DS likes both.

They're also obsessed with paper airplane kits/books:

I have never seen someone every NOT be happy with Legos. My son's turning 7 and since 4/5, he'll sit around for up to 2hrs trying to put legos together.

Lucky you. We spent a fortune on legos and my kid doesn't like them. I know lots of kids who are not fans.
