so I just called to put a travel notice on my cards, going to Southern Africa
Visa: Hi, no problem, give me the dates and the countries, Alright, it's done, please call if the dates change Mastercard: We can't do that, you have to call the main office. Call to main office: well, let me see, Is your husband going or your children? (Mind you, I am the only cardholder). WTH??? Am I oversensitive or is this an odd question? |
| You can't just call the issuing bank? |
| I have a Capital One mastercard and have no issue putting a travel notice on it. |
um, that's what I did, and those were the responses I got |
Tell us who the misgoynist bank was then. |
| yeah, it's not a MC vs. Visa issue, it's a bank vs. bank issue. |
both. |
| I have two Mastercards, different banks, and I just put travel alerts on both entirely online, no phone call needed and no problems whatsoever. You need a new bank. |
same here, but you have to call them up and tell them. |
which bank please? |
I think this is one poster on so many threads who repeatedly uses this term and has this singular outlook on life. (so often)the comment has no effect anymore).
|
| We have a Visa through Chase and always do it online |
| This is not indicative of MC. This is the podunk bank that issued your card. I have a MC through Sears and never had an issue with that. I used to have one through GMC and never had an issue with this. Bigger banks don't tend to have these issues. My guess is that if your Visa card was issued by some smaller bank and your MC was issued by a larger bank, your experience might have been reversed. |
| OP here, the mastercard is a Target card...quite a good size company, I would think |
| the same target that was hacked and gave away our credit card info |
