We are genetically predisposed to cheat

All the science and human behavior throughout history shows were are genetically predisposed to cheat. So, why do we make sexual fidelity the Holy Grail? Is it really the big dealbreaker everyone makes it out to be? And if so, ,why?

Men made up the idea of monogamy and marriage so that they could be assured of reproductive success/ knowing who the child was.

In a world without monogamy, most women slept with multiple men (this is why men's privates are shaped as they are- I wont go into it because it would turn it into explicit but you can google this if curious) and whoever had the "fittest" gene would be the one that successfully implanted and had the child.

Also, many men didn't get sex at all- it was really the top guys sleeping with most of the women.

Anyway, this meant that about 80% of women reproduced and only about 40% of men. You can see why they wanted to implement marriage.

I for one am thrilled that the marriage system is coming to an end and fully intend to have a child on my own. Patriarchy is finally starting to be dismantled and it's about damn time!

I agree with most of this. Especially before more liberated attitudes began taking hold, you could see how marriage worked well for ugly men.
