Rescheduling birthday party for weather on last day of school, how to handle?

Anonymous
It's supposed to rain on Friday and we have a birthday party planned outside in a park. Fun! How do you handle rescheduling since it's also the end of school year and many are heading out of town for summer? do we try to do it the next day on Saturday or is that too last minute that many wouldn't be able to swing it and we would have to find another weekend to allow for people to plan ahead?

Why don't you just get an alternate location? How many kids did you invite, and what ages? You could take the kids to a movie.

I agree. Just do something different -- take them to an indoor pool, or something.

Wait and see what happens with the weather.

We live in the city. Space is tight and small home. 25 kids

As in DC? Go to Magic Grounds or somewhere else.

Just reschedule. Not everyone goes on vacation at the same time. Some kids have summer birthdays and deal with this every year. It is fine to reach out and ask if people will be around on a certain date.

I wouldn't trust a Friday forecast that was issued on a Monday.

Have a plan in mind if it puts your mind more at ease, but I wouldn't worry just yet. A few days before this past weekend the forecast was for 80 and thunderstorms both days, but then on Thursday or so the temp spiked and the rain prediction changed to sunny.

June is a tough month for planning an outdoor party. If it was me, I might make a fancier same day plan for a best friend or two (movies, ice cream, sleepover, etc) and then issue a rain date for the park gathering. I bet you'll get a better response than you think - kids are eager to see their friends over the summer!
