wearing make up on weekend

Anonymous
I am a working mom. during weekdays, I would wear make up and dress well for work. when it is weekend, I just want to relex. so no make up, flip-flop.... but when I take my son to the park or zoo or even grocery shopping, I saw a lot of ladies dress well, wear make up..., make me feel that I am too slopy, what do you wear on weekend?

On weekends, I only dress up/wear makeup if I'm going out to dinner, meeting up with friends, etc. I like to be comfortable and my husband doesn't care what I'm wearing.

If I am just running around doing errands or playing with my toddler in tow, I wear zero make-up, and comfortable clothes. Usually we end up outside in the sandbox or at a park and I get covered in sand and mud. I'd hate to ruin good clothes. Geez, I'll admit, the other week I didn't even shower before going to the grocery store. We had to hit the early hours before the crowds came.

Now if we are going to a friends /play-date, I may wear a bit of foundation or try to dress a little nicer (and I always shower)

I don't ever wear makeup, and I never feel self-conscious about it. I do have a rule against wearing sweats outside of the house, though.

I generally feel better and more put together if I have a little bit of foundation and some blush and mascara, and it only takes 5 minutes, so I usually have make up on before leaving the house on weekends. I work from home so usually I enjoy getting my make up on and nicer clothes (rather than the sweats I work in).

In the winter I wear makeup every day, and do tend to dress nice no matter what the day. In the summer, I get more casual and will often leave the house for errands without makeup, but never if we are going out to eat etc. Also dress a little more casual in the summer but I'm not leaving the house in workout clothes...

I might run some errands without make-up but in general at least put on mascara and foundation before leaving the house. It's kind of corrective for my light lashes and visible pores, though. To me, make-up isn't the big issue.

I am a fan of smart casual clothing for weekends. It might be different for people who spend a lot of time in their cars, but if you're not in a personal bubble, you're part of the streetscape and ought to be a credit to it. It is often painfully easy to spot tourists by their too-casual costumes.

"you're part of the streetscape and ought to be a credit to it"?!? Oh, my.

As a single mom who gets one night "off" a weekend to go out, weekends are about the only time I wear makeup! I never wore much to begin with, though, and i've always looked forward to summer, when I rarely wear it at all. (i get a little color in the summer and look healthier and better w/o it.)

I accepted long ago I didn't have the patience to be one of those "always looks perfect and put-together" women, and embraced my low-maintenance-ness. (I do shower and wash/brush my hair daily and I do dress pretty well, but I just don't like makeup that much.)

Wouldn't that involve a shower?

No thanks.

Who cares what other people are doing?

If I'm doing yard work all day, no makeup.

If I'm running around with DC all day, tinted sunscreen, eyebrow pencil, mascara, and clear lipgloss.

At most, a bit of powder and some lip gloss, that's it. I work out a lot, so I try to avoid sneakers at other times, and I got rid of my sweatpants a while back. They just don't flatter anyone. Even yoga pants are better than sweats. Also chucked my baggy T-shirts and replaced them with inexpensive fitted ones.

Pulease!

PP's acquaintances must get eyeball cramps from all the rolling that takes place in her presence.

I'm the opposite. I do not have to wear make up to work or dress up, so I usually do it on the weekends so I can feel like I'm still attractive and have an ounce left of femininity in myself.

Amen to that! I feel the same way.
