Weekend in Philly with kids?

Anonymous
Kids are 7, 6, 3, baby

Here's what I have on our list

Sat
Please Touch Museum
Doylestown Kids Castle playground
Mural Mile
Maybe art museum steps or Rodin sculpture garden? Doubt we'll have time tho

Sunday
Reading Terminal for breakfast
Franklin Institute
Franklin Park
Check out Boathouse Row

Monday morning
Camden acqarium

Then we drive to Jersey shore for the rest of the week.

I think they might be too young for the Liberty Square stuff?

Any other suggestions? Recs for kid friendly restaurants?

Saturday you are never going to get through all of that

Also, boathouse row is beautiful but nothing to actually do there. So, give it a drive by - but better viewing is from opposite side of the river. Drive up the river on your way to the Please Touch Museum

hey, I live here and this is an impossible/crazy itinerary. You have some great stuff but need to revise.

Saturday:
*Please Touch is good!

*The Doylestown castle playground is a solid hour or hour and a half drive from downtown Philly. It's a great playground but unless you are taking a daytrip to Doylestown or have a reason to go there, it's WAY too far. Instead, you want to go to the Smith Playground. Like Please Touch it is in Fairmount Park. It has an old fashioned wooden slide and lots of cool equipment, an area for tots, and an indoor playhouse for younger kids.

*You will be close-ish to the art museum if you want to check out the steps. The Rodin museum is more indoors than out, but there is some outdoor sculpture near the Philadelphia Museum of Art. You could see those and walk down along the path along the river, and gaze out at the boathouses.

I don't think I'd do Mural Mile with young kids. It's also geographically far. If you want more stuff, I'd consider doing the natural history museum (Academy of Sciences). But realistically you have plenty already.

Sunday:
*I am not into Reading Terminal Market but I know a lot of people love it. I would just choose a fun diner and have a sane, unstressful breakfast, but that's your call.

Franklin Institute is good (and/or Academy of Sciences, which is smaller but good).

By Franklin Park, do you mean Franklin Square? Mini-golf and hamburgers and playground? Could be OK, parking is horrendous there. There's a Firehouse Museum just a block away, if your kids are into that. You might want to do the pop-up park along the river instead (beer garden too!). Keep in mind this is the other side of town from the Franklin Institute.

You can also take a ferry from there to the aquarium, which could be entertaining.

I also recommend the Seaport Museum for your 6 and 7 year olds. You can go in some big ships and see the harbor/river area.

Also living in Philly with kids and there's way too much on your itinerary. Pick maybe four things from that list.
