8th grade graduation gift

What to get?

For 6th grade, I had a special piece that she made at school framed.

For 8th grade, I am thinking about a sapphire, her birthstone, jewelry set.

But, I'm looking for ideas. Thanks!!

I like the idea of the sentimental gift you got her when she grad sixth grade. Can you have photos made into a book on shutterfly? Or laminate a special story or poem she wrote this year?

I dislike the idea of jewelry - just me, I know - but I think we often set the bar higher and higher for kids today and to what end - e.g. what will you get her for high school grad if you got her jewelry for 8th grade grad? and then college? and so on.
