I need an eating disorder

Anonymous
I am struggling with these last 10 post-pregnancy pounds. Not to get me skinny (I've always been on the zaftig side), just to the high-end of my normal BMI range, where I look presentable and can fit decently into clothes.

I do well for a few weeks with food and exercise, and then when work (and home) get busy, it falls apart.

DD2 is a year old now, this is getting embarrassing. I eat protein each meal, low-fat dairy, plenty of veggies, only occasional junk. It seems I'll have to starve myself to get there. How do you skinny minnies do it???? (p.s. I cannot chew gum.)

Substitute beans and sweet potatoes for bread. Stop eating after 6:00pm no matter what.

stick to an exercise routine.

it sounds like you know what you need to do.

Write down everything you eat. I mean EVERYTHING, including a couple bites here and there-- it all adds up. Once you see it on paper you can fine tune any adjustments you may need to make.

Also, are you still breastfeeding? When I weaned, I immediately lost 5lb.

Another vote for Weight Watchers. If I stick to it for a week, I am guaranteed to lose 2 pounds.

Have you gotten your thyroid checked?

WW worked for me as well, but it is tedious to keep track of everything.

I'm like you OP. I pretty much need to eat no more than 1,200 calories to lose anything at all. And yes, I also exercise about 3-4 times/week.

It sucks to see my skinny friends eat and eat and eat and not get bitter.

I find the heading to your post offensive. I suffer with an eating disorder and I don't wish it on my worst enemy. Never wish you have an eating disorder. It is a horrble illness that rules your life.

Good lord, I also had an eating disorder. IF you want to find offensive in everything, you will. Chill.

I am on this thing called Diet to Go, which I guess is like Jenny Craig, but seems like the food is more natural. I pick up all my meals at Wagshal's. So far so good. I'm not feeling starved at least.

I need some good old fashioned nausea after 9 pm, when I start to want to stuff myself. I have the horrible habit of not being able to sleep unless my stomach is completely full. That's been the hardest to adjust to.

Go see Dr. Michael Anchors. You will lose those last 10 pounds without even trying!

What has been the most sucessful thing for me as a busy mom is to actually make sure I eat ENOUGH. It's a new mentality for me. Instead of trying to limit calories or trick my body into thinking it isn't hungry (gum, diet soda, etc). , I focus on making sure I eat enough, especially early in the day. I eat healthy, but also make sure my breakfast has some fat and some protein. That way I don't get too hungry and suck down anything in sight. I think some people (me included) highly underestimate how much food they eat when they are constantly dieting and "sneaking food". I also snack regularly (small snacks). I find when I get too hungry I get to a point I will eat anything.

I also found cutting out all artificial sweetner to make a huge difference. I crave fewer sweets and simple carbs.
