Arlington residents - yes
Alexandria residents - no

It is a Fairfax county school, so it depends on the agreement the neighboring county has made with Fairfax.

The school divisions currently participating in TJHSST are:

Arlington County
Fairfax County (includes City of Fairfax)
Falls Church City
Loudoun County
Prince William County

THanks. Is it impossible to get in? Do you have to have connections? How early should one attend open houses to get more info, if there are open houses?

If you don't know, your kid isn't going to TJ. Sorry, but Truth.

In the meantime, go to the AAP forum on this board and search for TJ all your answers are there. Or, you know, Google.

My kid is in 3rd grade, so we have plenty of time to find out what AAP is. We're new to this part of the country...so, thanks for the info!

I see now, AAP stands for "Advanced Academic Programs (AAP)"Primarily for discussion of Fairfax County's Advanced Academic Programs, but open for discussion of AAP and similar programs elsewhere as well." It's so nice to be welcomed by the wonderful Virginians and all of their most useful and charming information. Cheers!

Well, most kids start AAP 3rd grade, so no, you don't have time to find out. Your DC should have only been in the program for a year.

But welcome to NOVA, which is nothing like ROVA. And to DCUM, where if you ask such a basic question in the wrong forum without doing a site search or google search first, you will get snarky answers. So, DCUM 101:

1. Use the right forum
2. Search the archives before you ask something so basic
3. Learn to use google
