In-boundary waitlist movement for pre-k4 in NW?

Anonymous
How deep into the in-boundary waitlist have NW elementaries gotten for pre-k4 over the past few years? Do all children with in-boundary plus sibling preference get in? TIA!

Which school? It really depends. Good chances all IB kids get in at Lafayette, not such good chances at Janney.

IB with sibling at Lafayette, Murch, Eaton, and Hearst : Yes, in years past. Definitely not a sure thing at Janney and Stoddart. I am not sure about Mann and Key.

Definitely not a sure thing at Oyster (English dominant side). As a matter of fact, the odds are against you.

What about Lafayette or Murch without a sibling?

My info is dated by 2 years, but I had heard that all IB at Murch got in eventually.

At Janney for 2016-17, we were told that there were 125 IB applicants for 76 PK4 spots. 50 of those spots went to sibling preferences. I don't know how deep into the waitlist they are currently, if at all. Everyone I know who got a spot at Janney accepted it.

Janney never clears the waitlist. They usually go to about number 10 and leave 20-30 inboundary on it.

Definitely not at Stoddert. Plenty of IB with sibling preference left on the WL.

Stoddert only offers one PreK class. Schools like Janney and Lafayette offer four, I think.

Correct, but I'm not sure how this is relevant to OP's question.

The important info is that Janney and Stoddart (despite accepting different numbers of IB with sibs) still leave significant numbers of them in the wait list every year.

Well, if Dcps would publish the lottery data they've always published before showing how many IB siblings, IB, and OOB w/ sibling enrolled are on the waitlist it would be easier for families to have reasonable expectations.

No kidding!

Last year for Eaton all the IB families eventually got in and I think 1 or 2 OOB with sibling.

When I talked to another parent the other day they said there were 20ish IB families initially waitlisted this year plus more OOB IB with sibling on the list behind the IB families.

I was about 15 on the WL (IB) for Janney PK4 2 years ago and did not get in without a sibling. Anecdotally, I've heard that if you have a sibling, you will get in, and only a handful of non-sibling IB kids can get in.
