| Rehoboth, Virginia Beach, Ocean City? I'm looking for an easy drive from DC to a beach that has nice smooth sand that I plus my toddler would like. Preferably not too crowded. I could even go during the weekday. Thanks. |

| Also, I'd like for him to actually go in the water. I have been spoiled by caribbean and hawaiin beaches. Anything comparable around here (driving distance)? |

| LOL 8:54. Isn't that the truth. OP, I haven't been to Virginia Beach. But in my opinion, not much difference between Ocean City and Rehoboth for little little kids. Once our kids hit about age 3 or 4, the grown ups liked Rehoboth but the kids had a very strong preference for Ocean City. So, I am on my gazillionth summer in a row with a hotel booked in Ocean City. |

| The outer banks has nice sand, and it's not a crazy beach scene. It doesn't have palm trees, but we like it a lot. The downside is that it's 5+ hours by car, so it's best to go for a week and rent a house. |

| try the Jersey Shore - the beaches are very nice and the water is a little cooler so the jellyfish arrive later. |

| 14:22 whose kids prefer Ocean City here. It comes down to two things for them. You can get a hotel with a swimming pool (for a price that I will pay) right on the boardwalk and they love the boardwalk. I have not found an affordable hotel with a swimming pool within walking distance from the boardwalk at Rehoboth. They love early morning bike rides on the board walk where we stop at Dunkin' Donuts for breakfast. And, they love evenings going into all of the shops where they sell the type of trinkets that my kids love. I know Rehoboth offers similar, but my kids just prefer the OC boardwalk. |
