Where to start looking if you've been out of a job for a while?

| I was abroad for almost a year after quitting the most horrible job I had last year. I was there for maybe 10 months. Where is the best place to start and where can I get resume tips? I feel embarrassed to ask anyone because my work history looks poor. I have a degree in Finance/Eccon. |
