Will it be slow going from here on out? Or will there be any events that will trigger more movement?
Just hoping and waiting.... |
Depends on the school. People move over the summer. There may be movement right after the first day of school when there are enrolled students that turn out to be no-shows. |
| OP - what school are you waiting and hoping for? What grade? Can you at least share whether it's a charter or DCPS? |
| I think there will be a wave of movement in mid-June after the last day of school - lots of school staff are currently focused on closing out the year. And then, likely, another in early to mid-August. |
|
DCPS on the whole seems to be going slow with admitting from their wait lists to see who shows up in August.
But in general the days of massive movement seem to be waning. The common lottery has ended most of it. |
| We noticed a lot of movement last summer in early June. We got several offers by mid-June. A few others trickled in the rest of the summer. |
What grade? |
| I think what you can expect really depends on what school you're talking about and what grade. As others have said DCPS elementaries (at least sought after ones) usually don't offer wait list spots until school starts, once they know how many in-boundary children who never registered suddenly show up. Charters might have more continuous movement. I. Some instances, it could depend on changing plans. As it's been mentioned here a couple times, basis offered many fewer spot for fifth grade in the lottery this year (like 80 fewer!) and some wonder if they might end up offering more once they have a good handle on how many ninth graders will be returning. |
| I know there is a very long thread about a LAMB expansion--any ideas as to whether that will result in waitlist movement at some point for pre-k3, much like the Mundo Verde expansion last year? |
| Good question. |
|
No. Much smaller expansion than MV. The expansion LAMB slots were already offered to wait listed people per the other thread and answers due 5/31.

| Thank you . |
