Duplicate threads

Do users help/ report duplicate threads? Do you want help/ reports about duplicate threads?

Yes, users report duplicate threads. But, "duplicate threads" can mean a couple of different things. I am most interested in cross-posting, or posting the same message in multiple forums. After that, I am interested in posters starting threads on the same topic as currently active threads. I am least interested in a poster starting a thread that is on the same topic as a thread that is months old.
