I think Nat Geo is really great, but I have a DD so haven't looked into Boy's Life. Highlights is also good, but may be a little young for him.

I would look at Muse, or Cricket, or another magazine published by Carus.

Boys Life is great!! Also Sports Illustrated for Kids. And Muse.

You could always check your local library to see other options. Our kids' reading room has every magazine under the sun.

Boys Life is awesome. Is he a scout? He should be getting it as part of his membership.

He is a scout so it's Nat. Geo. Many thanks.

I would do any of the Cricket publications or Ranger Rick. Miles and miles better than Nat Geo Kids, which is way more commercial than you'd expect.

The real Nat Geo.
Cricket or Muse or one of their sister publications have excellent content but paper and photo quality is lacking.

Please, whatever you do, no NatGeo Kids. Pure garbage.

Cricket/muse etc (the carus group) is great. I wanted to add that not only do they have a wide variety of age levels and content, they allow you to switch up the magazine at any time. So, you could change from fiction to science, or go up or down an age level.

We also do a puzzle magazine (Puzzlemania by highlights) as well. It's great for literacy and math skills.
